Wow Granny, you have been busy. :)

I have a few orange tail guppy, and a couple of black males. The others were various colors. I didn't get too many because I know I will quickly have more. :)

I'm moving them tomorrow into a different tank so I can see them better. The tank I put them in today is in a weird spot so I didn't get a good look at everyone. Petco now has a 30 day guarantee on fish. Used to be 3 days.

Rock is fairly inert if it hasn't been used yet. Aquarium rock that is used and than removed from a tank will quickly smell like death if left for too long as the bacteria that colonize your aquarium rock due off.

I often just run water over a bucket of rock and I don't bother to use a strainer to rinse them.

Hen, this is what I bought from lowes. Way cheaper . There is a lot . So Im afraid I dont understand ? You think its safe ? It really does kill my back to stand at the sink and wash/rinse it.

Are there fish in the tank currently? If not just add it and the filter should remove any stuff. That's what I would do.
Ok Thank you. Theres nothing in it. I dont have a heater . LOL Figured I would scape it then maybe next month I could get the heater and figure out something for a lid. plexiglass probably.

shoot ! I just thought of something. Will my java moss be ok w/o a heater ?
I took some land moss from my backyard and soaked it submerged for a solid month then added it to my tank and its growing good. And the pothos has new leaves completely under water too. I bought one little $5.00 plant from wal mart and ended up w/ 6-7 rooted plants. They are poison to cats I read so the ones in the common rooms are submerged and my bedroom has them in the filter box growing out of water.

I don't know for sure. I don't think it's tropical. I just read 59-86 is it's temperature range. So unless it's outside it should be okay. It probably won't grow as fast in cooler temperatures.
