Door for chickens...

I'm in cold MN and I don't cover my door. That said, it's on the north side of the house and does not take any direct wind. I found that it doesn't really affect the temperature much in the coop anyways. Cold is just plain cold.

how big should i make the chicken door?
standard hens (will have pullets in 6 weeks)

Don't know what kind of birds you have. 12x12? 15x15 (that's mine)? Cut the hole about 9 inches above floor level if you plan on using deep litter. Otherwise you'll have a shavings flood each time you open the door.
