Dorking vs chantecler as meat birds

Hi,

I have Been looking for a great heritage breed for meat and I have narrowed it down to the Dorking or the chantecler. Has anyone had expirences with any of these breeds, how did they dress out, did they have good broodiness? I would just like to know your expirences ? Thanks!

PS: take your weather into account. if it gets as cold as Minneapolis where you live, consider the Chantecler with the cushion comb . If you have hot weather consider the Dorking ( comes in single comb and rose comb. Dorkings also come in rosecomb which is quite cold tolerant ( can tolerate heat too).

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to contact them as soon as possible. Where I live it gets up to -30c and to 40c in the summer.thanks again.

it gets from minus 22 F to 104 F where you live?


if it gets over 100 F , go with the Dorking.
if it gets under -20 F go with the Chantecler.

Oh, sorry. I meant to say 30c. Those are the coldest or hottest it gets. The average temp is about -15c to -20c and the summer average is about 20c to 25c. So then my climate is fit for both? I wonder what the max temp is for chanteclers and min temp for the dorkings? Thanks for the help

Chanties for coldest temp. Dorkings for max high temp.
your temp ranges
5f to -4f cold
68f to 86f hot
yes, you are fine for both breeds as long as you chose the cushion comb
in the Chanties and the rose comb in the Dorkings. Single combs risk frostbite at those low temps.
