Ok, quick question. Is a "Silver laced Dottie" a real bread? I ran across this Craigslist add local to my area and was curious http://athensohio.craigslist.org/grd/5155292242.html

Sorry, they aren't. At least, not a true breed (may have been developed by a small-time breeder). Those are not laced, they are barred birds, likely Barred Rocks, which are very common. I think that person just wants to get more money out of them.

Yeah that was kind of my thoughts. I thought they looked like barred rocks but I don't have an eye for all the breeds, and I don't know what all the breeds are since there are so many. I figured I would ask here. I thought I found something rare. Thank you for such a fast reply!!

Finding rare breeds is always awesome! If you do find any, I'd love to know. I study domestic animals and their breeds, and try to write down lists of ALL of them. Its a lot of work.

"Dottie" is a nickname sometimes given to Wyandottes (https://www.etsy.com/listing/218927969/chicken-blank-note-cards-dottie-a-silver), however the birds pictured in the Craigslist ad are Barred Rocks, not Silver Laced Wyandottes.

That's cool! I did not know that. I can see why they would be called Dottie's.
