I keep getting double yolks from one chicken. I'm not sure who. I'm always delighted to see them. But the eggs are as big as my duck eggs. Doesn't this hurt my girl? I think it is my Buff Orpington Pot Pie. Someone told me to be concerned for their health if this happens. But I've also heard some chickens just do it their whole life almost.. Which is what I always thought. Is this really ok? They are only pets with their eggs being an added bonus. They eat most of them anyway.

PS.. Can these be hatched?

Sometimes it happens. Their ovary releases two follicles at the same time. Those eggs should never be incubated. There is a reason there are no twins in nature among egg laying species.

No, it's not hurting the chicken as far as I know. That is very rare I know you know that You are quite lucky to have a lot of chances of having them.
