Got Candy Aug 2000, she LOVED to GO ... Had a bag that looked like a purse so she went EVERYWHERE with me, no one every knew & I took her everywhere in that purse. She was a "fake" Chi, never had the attitude nor yappy, just plain SWEET. When we returned to HI to take care of my parents, I went through 2yrs of prep with the Dept of Ag so I didn't have to put her in quarantine, she'd die due to separation anxiety ... We both would. I got lucky with the airlines in misunderstanding a note the Vet wrote, so she was able to ride in cabin with me instead of having to go cargo (Nov 2010). She did not like it here, I could tell, she then started getting sick around Christmas. Tests & meds until March 2011 she started having seizures, April it was time to let her journey the Rainbow Bridge. We still miss her :hit

I never imagined this thread would become so big and as awesome as it is! I just want to thank everybody for their posts and their dogs and their stories! It really brings everyone together! I love the name suggestions! I was thinking about writing everyone’s down and putting them in a randomized app and it’ll chose the winner?! What do y’all think? I love the duck dogs and the support for all of those who have lost their fur babies. I send my love to the owners. I love the duck dog and the chicken ranglers. I love this thread not just cause of the twins but because of all the great people coming together!

People sometimes just don’t think that that’s a wild animal and they will act accordingly. People should be more informed on the dangers. A male is dangerous especially during mating season. They become very territorial.

Not just the bucks, though where I grew up, a farmer lost an entire herd of cattle to a bull elk. It got into the pasture, and just went on a rampage goring the guy's steers in the gut. Those that didn't die immediately had to be put down.

When my Aussie mix was a pup, about ten weeks old, I was out walking her and had a doe come at us. She was on one side of the road, I crossed to the other side to go by her. She looked at me, looked at my dog... pinned her ears back and charged us both. I grabbed a two-by-four off the side of the road and came around after her with it, she put on the brakes, backed off, and slunk away. A two-hundred-pound Muley doe is nothing to mess with, if you're not armed, and I've no doubt she'd have killed my pup. That doe wasn't protecting a fawn, either - wrong time of year. I've heard of several instances in which a deer will go after a small dog purely to kill it, not out of any perceived threat.
