Double yolker...at 5 days in incubator....

Very excited but also hopeful they both make it!!

It’d be nice if they both do. I have never had any luck with double yolkers, and I don’t know anyone who has. But you can always be hopeful. Please tell me if it works

I will be updating on progress....looking at posts, some do make it...and some don't. On the plus side...it's a big egg!

It's recommended not to try because most often one embryo does, which leads to the other dying from bacteria. Sometimes it's close enough to hatch that one can still hatch, usually both don't make it to hatch though so I'd never count on a double giving you 2 chicks

Some double yolkers do make it. I have followed lots and lots of double yolk hatching threads. Sometimes they almost make it to hatching, then die, so it can be heartbreaking. Sometimes just one chick makes it. When I first joined BYC, there was a successful double duckling hatching. Those who attempt it can receive all kinds of negativity and judgement so be prepared.

Interesting! I'm here for the updates! I always heard double yolks aren't the best for hatching but I'd love to see how yours works out

Ooo very exciting! I had hatched a double yolker once but unfortunately neither made it. One was dead in the shell and the other I suppose was to weak to live long, only lasted two days
