My EE, Matilda, laid her first egg a week and a half ago. She laid the next two days, took a day off, laid the next two days, took two days off then yesterday I got a double-yolker. Got another egg today and it has a smear of blood on the shell. (sorry, no pic) Is this normal after the trauma of laying the extra-big one the day before? Anything I can do to help her recover? My other five girls are all squatting for my now, so I'm expecting a nesting box full of eggs in the near future!
My girls first eggs had a smear of blood too. Thats normal. The large eggs will also cause some bleeding. Not sure on anything that will help avoid it.
