How common are double yolkers in quail? This is my first batch of quail, and they started laying on Dec 15, and we have had 5 double yolk eggs laid so far. Just curious as to how common they are. Also, I read somewhere that it wasn't recommended to incubate them because they rarely hatch, and that if they do they don't do well and have a lot of problems with things like wry neck and club foot. Is that true?

Also, has anyone ever had a no-yolker? I've had a couple of those too!

New layers lay "weird" eggs sometimes...while they are working their egg laying parts out.
The "weird" eggs should stop soon.

I had a button quail hen who laid a double yolker almost every other egg.. None of them ever started to develop, so I don't know about problems with the chicks, though I've read about that too. If you do set double yolkers, be prepared to cull the chicks if necessary.
But as Kiki said - usually double yolkers are a problem of new layers or a random thing that pops up every now and then, my hen was pretty weird in laying so many and I think it wore her out to lay those huge eggs again and again. She ended up with a permanent, unexplained limp which I think was caused by the large eggs and I decided to cull her when I saw no improvements after a couple of months of limping..

I've never had any double yolkers nor any without yolk.
It's not very common but does occur, especially in young hens just starting to lay.

Most will not develop when incubated, although their are reports of double yoked chicken eggs hatching. I don't know of any quail double yolkers hatching, doesn't mean that it hasn't, I just never have heard of it.
Most will not survive due to the space in the egg is two small to handle 2 embryos developing in such a confined space. Also there's a huge chance only 1 ovium will be fertilized.

I'm still new to quail, but I will second @Texas Kiki. My experience in chickens has shown me that new layers lay all sorts of funky eggs. Their hormones are on the frits - just think about a teenager going through puberty and then imagine all of those changes happen in just a week or two... yea, things get crazy! LOL. I have not a no yolk, but they occur. I believe some people call them gassers, gas eggs, or fart eggs. I have had double yolks. I wouldn't attempt to incubate a double yolk on purpose. Just not enough space and egg white for two birds, also it would be likely that one would suffocate during hatching as the are not both like to be in position to access the air sack. Double yolks are double delicious though in the frying pan!
