Doughy Crop Help

If there are rocks the size of what you would get in bagged grit, then likely she's OK. I provide the grit anyway, abundance of caution, to help prevent impactions. I would discontinue any non- soluble, or fiberous, foods until things are moving. That could be the issue. If they gorge on too much fiberous stuff, particularly long grass, it can cause problems, particularly if they don't have enough grit. The gizzard just can't handle an overload of fiberous stuff and the grit is necessary for grinding it up. I would stick with the feed made into a mash (consistency can be what she likes, very watery, or thicker like oatmeal, it will make it easier for her to digest and will help with hydration. With good hydration, the coconut oil, and some time hopefully things will move.

She is in with younger birds & they probably wouldn't mind the mash. Can I turn her back out with them (she has been caged) & offer everyone mash consistency layer crumbles? They are bounded to her & everyone is struggling not being together.

I cannot think you enough for your help.

Most birds really like mash, I feed mine that way every morning, they consider it their 'treat' and it's not junk food! As long as you can monitor her to make sure she's eating and drinking and manage to see her droppings, I don't see a reason to separate. For some of them, separation is very stressful, so I usually do what is best for each individual bird. It will be easier for you to monitor droppings if she's crated though. If you can put her in a wire crate in the run with the other birds, that may solve the problem, but do what works for you. Usually separating is either to keep them from injury, or to make it easier to monitor things.

I'll create her at night to see how she poops & to be able to check her morning crop & then let her out in the morning!

Thank you!!!!

Just wanted to come back & say thank you again. I finished the second dosing cycle for worms yesterday & the miconazole came in the mail today. I'd been doing the feed mash with electrolyte water like you mentioned as well. Went out tonight to dose the miconazole treatment & her crop was squishy & normal & no more smell! Thank you for all your advice. ❤
