Doulbe Yolks and Newbie Incubator

Hi all, really worried now

Day 25 went into lockdown 37.2 and 65% humidity
Day 26 all fine temperature and humidity constant
Day 27 today temperature and humidity constant no change no pipping or hatching

Tomorrow is day 28 and I am not confident anything is going to hatch is there anything I can do or do I have to just wait it out . When can I open the incubator to check. Any advice will be greatly received

Any update? I'm hoping you have some pips by now. Just remember, 40+ hours from initial pip is not uncommon for them to take to actually hatch.

If nothing has happened yet, and if you don't have a problem keeping humidity up, I'd candle them quickly and look for movement, internal pips, or drawdown of the air cells.

Good luck! :fl

Hi and thanks for the advice

I have candled and have movement in 3 of the eggs there is a little bit of fluid in the air sac of 1 of the eggs I have taken pictures of 3 eggs that have movement

So what now I'm at 29 days with no pipping what are my next steps

It looks like those may have possibly quit on you. Usually as the baby gets into position to hatch, the air cell draws down and fills more of the fat end.

I haven't gone back to review, and can't remember how this has gone up to this point, but normally a delayed hatch is caused by low temperatures. Could that be the case? Fluid in the air cell could mean internal pip (that it has broken through the membrane inside, but not broken the shell). If you still see movement, but can't tell if there is an internal pip, its really just best to wait them out. Without a pip, there isn't usually much success in trying to assist if its not ready.

And are you positive on the day count? Some people mistakenly count the day set as day 1, when actually day 1 doesn't start until 24 hours after set. And 28 days to hatch is just a normal guideline, some take a little longer, some are quicker.

Got 2 eggs moving in the incubator shaking looks to me like the birds have started to try and get out will keep you informed

This would be 28 days after setting if you give 24 hours so may have a hatch fingers crossed

Hi all pulling my hair out now 3 days past hatching deadline and I still have 3 eggs that are moving I have opened the incubator and checked eggs there are chicks inside one egg chirped twice two eggs have a small break in the shell so I assume this is pipping however this has been there for 3 days now

The eggs move when I open the incubator as the temperature drops then when I put it back and the temperature rises the eggs stop moving

Temperature is 37.2 humidity is 70%

What can I do

I also have a few questions... I had a Pekin and Welsh harlequin drake, but the Welsh Harlequin drake past away :hit (he was already feathered and had a drake feather) so my Pekin, Cesar, got sad so I decided to get another duck from my friends because they just got ducklings, we just picked one of the duckslings (they were khaki Campbell) so we couldn't tell them apart. But the duckling ended up being a girl....so I am guessing that I will have ducklings... so should I incubate them or just let the Khaki Campbell do it herself, I just don't know if khaki Campbell's are broody.

Well well you are not going to believe this guys and girls

Haven't been able to get on in weeks, due to family with stomach bug & catching up at work. So glad to see you have a duckling. Wow, you've really had an adventure. Hope the others made it out as well. Congratulations!
