Dove crash.....

We've had a number of birds run into our Windows and I've gone out and held them until their shock is over. This morning it was a full size dove. After a half hour or so wrapped loosely in a towel I put it out on the back deck and it sat there then tried to walk/fly and definitely has some injury to it's wing. Does anyone know what I can do to help?

You can try animal Control but they dont usually come out fast enough in my city to help the animal.

Not sure about the injured bird. But, have you considered some sort of decal on your window to prevent it if it’s happening often? I know there are magnetized objects for screens that birds can see to detour them from flying through.

I've heard that sticking a silhouette of a bird of prey to windows can deter birds flying near them.

Welcome to BYC. Keep the dove in a quiet, darkened box - hopefully it is still just stunned. We even had a Cooper's hawk fly into the window once. Took it half a day to recover.

I have a young pigeon living in my house for much the same reasons, not sure what happened to him, but his wing is seriously messed up and he can't fly, so in the house he went....
