Hi everyone! I guess it’s a good thing i haven’t had anything to post in awhile. My 10 month old Khaki Campbell female has been looking a little scraggly lately. I thought it was just because she’s preening, but her down is actually poking through a good patch in her chest, and other places on her body as well. Is this just molting? Or wet feather? Please help!

I'm not a duck person, but my chickens often get that ratty look when molting. As a double-check, look at the skin and the base of her feather shafts for signs of mites (nits or tiny crawlies) Be sure to check around her vent and under her wings. Mites can wreak havoc on a bird ... but luckily, they're easy to treat.

Thank you so much!
