And I found my rat! And 100 of its friends and family! Living under some pallets behind the coop! I used poison for now. Its been in the middle 90s here, and I'm going to set the pallets on fire and burn them when it cools down a little. I guess I shouldn't have thrown that stuff in a pile when I didn't need it anymore.

For finding that rats! Have they been leaving the babies alone?

They haven't bothered the babies. I just put more poison under the pallets. I hope they are eating it. Its so hot here. I let the babies and mama outside. They had watermelon and took a dust bath. I love watching chicks bathe.

well done, glad you found the rats. hope she is being a good mum. my little girl is still sitting tight, i candle them and two are dud, one is still with us and can’t make out the other 2 the shells are dark.

Ethel is a great mom! She was putting bits of melon on the ground then calling the babies to come eat it. If the piece was too big she would chase them down and take it away. Lol. Eat it herself and get them more. I picked them up and took them outside and she followed, carried them back in and she followed. She doesn't let them out of her sight.
