Dozen eggs and then broods

I have a hen who has gone through 2 cycles of laying about 12 eggs, which are collected daily, and then goes broody on invisible eggs.

After doing this twice, I thought she would get over it, but she's back at it for the third time.

Any suggestion or do I just need to get used to it?

For some birds, and in particular some breeds this is the normal pattern. What breed is she ?

I'm not sure. I'm new to this and she was given to us by our neighbor.

She looks like a game fowl of some variety/cross, and very likely that will remain her pattern for life. They make very good mothers. Hint, hint.

We got her with her 8 babies. She was a great mom until one day, at around 6 weeks, she started being mean to the babies. That was the day she started laying eggs again, so we let her out of the coop.

I can't figure these chickens out...lol

That's her weaning the brood from her. Sounds like she was already planning on starting up another batch right after that.
