drain pipe for building a chicken watering system

Hi there, I was wondering if there is any reason why I should not use a drainage pipe vs. regular PVC to built my chicken watering and feeding system. My local hardware store does not stock 3in PVC pipes, only 2 in or the 3in drainage pipes.

Drainage pipes (if I am thinking of same as what you are referring) are a thinner wall, or are corrugated to be easy to bend. Not sure witch you want to use??? If you can make it work for your project/application, I see no problem with such. If you need something stronger, or thicker wall to install whatever attachments, then go out of your way to get the right kind.

Thank you all for your replies, I returned the drain pipe and was able to order a 5 ft length pvc pipe from Lowes for a fairly reasonable price. I think the drain pipe would have been OK for food but not for the water.

I buy horizontal nipples from Amazon put them in 5 gallon buckets my pipe I put caps each end then drill out 1 1/2 inch wholes for feed they cannot kick the food out

have to wait till morning for the feeders but my water is 5 gallon bucket any variety

I have bought from the seller 6 times for them love them so much
the feeder i will post in the morning do not have one in house

alright told you I would post them now and took them this morning water bucket with nipple when you order the nipples they come in a bag with drill size and all any 5 gallon bucket I like the ones with a lid the birds cannot crap in them then or drown.. The others are my feeders black or white pvc 3 inch with caps the same size I like to lay them in the feed if they are pretty empty takes about a week to get them empty.. length is up to you
used what Dad called key whole saw you could drill a hole in a door type for a handle made 1 1/2 holes they eat out of

You need an 11/32 drill bit for the proper size hole to drill. Also when you screw them in, leave 2 - 3 threads showing, do not tighten them all the way in and no sealant is needed on the threads.
