I have a butterscotch call duck drake that changes from his normal grey and whites to look like a female which is buttery whites. I know that some drakes of other breeds will change plummage but are these calls supposed to?

I'm not sure what that particular color pattern is supposed to look like. But all drakes change from nuptial to eclipse plumage for a time at the end of breeding season where they will look more drab, female type colors. He will get his color back in a few months.

Ok thanks for clearing that up a bit for me! They’ve always gotta do it right before a show of course so I was hoping it wasnt to do with food
