"Drake" Does size matter? >>**Update with Pics**<<

I hadn't thought of him haveing difficulty breeding

You know he can't get in the kiddie pool like the others.
He also might be hard on the hens when they get old enough to mate.

So hubby loses and i win

When I got my khaki drake, I had the choice of 2 different males. One was huge, but he looked "off" to me. The little guy had better feathering, and just looked healthier and better proportioned. I took the little guy.

Well, the little guy filled out quite a lot while I had him. He turned out to be a really good drake. He watched the sky while the girls grazed for predators, he called his girls over when there were treats and he made sure they ate first, he chased the cats away from his ladies...

Jack and his mouthy girlfriend

I only sold him (and his favorite girl as a mated pair) because I hatched out a daughter of his and didn't want inbreeding. His daughter (by his favorite girl...a buff) is totally cute

Since she is a mutt, breed standards aren't an issue, but she sure is adorable.

Wifezilla thats why i like the slim guy he is so well proportioned and has the most beautiful green/blue sheen to him.

The large one is a dull black with a little color comeing in

I'm going to keep the slim one he just looks like he is going to be a good one.

Pics? Let me see i will try tomorrow when they take their daily swim in the kiddie pool.
I'm amazed they come out of their pen and go swim couple hours then go back in their pen.
They preen, eat and nap then back to the pool and do some doodling then put themselves to bed.

i had a big boy...chubby. lol. my parents named him chubby when we got him as a duckling and i was mad about it, because he was the smallest. turns out he lived up to his name! he was totally beautiful and his feathers were amazing! so pretty and white. he was also a great protector. in your case, i would say go with the little guy, he may surprize you! the best things come in small packages!!

Well i have decided to keep the smaller duck heres some pics of them.

This is the slim Duck in the front and the big boy in the back.

Wow, they are all beautiful to me!! I agree though, keep the slimmer one. He won't be so hard on the hens (weight wise) when it comes to mating.

Love the babies. Very cute!
