drake eating egg shells? help!

my girl won’t eat oyster shells. so i just give her egg shells for her calcium. but my drake thinks they are for him, and eats them all! i thought drakes weren’t suppose to eat them, and he’s for sure a drake. my other drake and my non-laying (too young) girl won’t touch them so i’m not sure why he is obsessed with them.

I don't know what to do about your boy eating them, but my girls used to refuse oyster shells also. I used to buy them the white kind in small bags that claims to be pure - thinking I was saving them from pollution or something. They would barely touch it. Eventually, as in after 2 or 3 years, I got the grey kind that comes in bulk, and gave it to them with mealworms to entice them to try something new. I put a sprinkle of mealworms on it every evening. Now they gobble the oyster shell up.

Anyway, maybe if you've only tried the white kind of oyster shell try the grey kind and put mealworms in it for a while? Maybe your drake just likes eggshells and won't like the oyster shell?
