Drake grabing ducklings

Hi All

My ducklings have been born Yay but I have noticed the male will grab them by the head in his beak he doesn't appear to hurt them !!! is this normal ?????

I have read on here before that people have experienced this and also that their drake killed their duckling, so be careful. I would not leave the ducklings unattended with the drake. Hopefully all will be well. How old are the ducklings?

I'd seperate them from the drake.

Thanks for replies the ducklings are only 3 days old he is fine with them in the cage he will go for me if I try and touch them it's only when they go in the pond so he is now in the garden all day he has another pond to hog out there lol and mum and babies have the enclosure and pond to them selves

That's good that you separated them. He doesn't sound like a good daddy. Some drakes are fine with babies, but many aren't.
