Drake-Hen ratio

what do you guys think my male female ratio should be? how many females to a male?

We currently have a 5:1 ratio. We once had a 5:2 ratio. I'm not sure which was better, but both require management in our experience. I would not consider anything under a 3:1, and even that sounds terrifying to me (but I know people who do it). Regardless of your ratio, if you are going to keep a drake, you should be sure to have an easy way to separate birds while keeping them together. Having said that, I can't imagine not having a drake...even if he can be a turd at times.

i have one drake for my two ducks. then my other drake will be getting two-three ducks as well. but only because we will make separation pens so during spring they won’t be able to touch the girls only see them
