Drake hunched over walking strange

Thank you for your response! I have the two pairs separated. We're also expecting a big snow and some negative temperatures and windchills (AGAIN) starting tonight through Thursday. I had to throw together another make shift indoor pen so I could keep the two pairs separate indoors, as well as, away from the larger birds. The 4 of them used to be able to be in the Indoor pen together up until last night. Grr. I put rinsed their eyes with saline and put some colloidal silver in each. I also gave them some orally. I will do that couple times a day over the next few days. I can't remember if I have any terramacin in my animal medicine cabinet. I'll have to look. I know I have biomycin injectable, which I use on my chickens from time to time.

When you say your Drake was limping for a few days? Was he in a hunched position, kind of looking like he just got done mating all the time when he was walking? Mine will take a few steps in the hunch position and then settle back in to lay down.
I feel you with the weather stuff
We had nice temps until last night then big winter storm and back to -25 to -30 grrr

He was hunched up and just wanted to spend most of his time alone in a quiet corner.

I am thinking I will try and give him something for the pain and inflammation. They are locked in their separate coop pens for the next two days with this snow and negative temps so its going to be a good time for him to rest and heal hopefully. I have baby aspirin or meloxicam, both in pill form. What suggestions do you have for dosage and administration? I also have some biomycin if I need to administer an antibiotic. He is maybe just over a pound.

I'd use Meloxicam. @casportpony @Wyorp Rock, either of you have dosing info on that?

I used pink eye medication on my girl when my drakes hurt her eye it seemed to keep the eye clearer. Not sure if it was the right thing but it worked. When I give a pill form of medication I break it down. By pressing a pill with 2 spoons I can get it broke down to a powder. Then I use a syringe to add water to it. I use naproxen since I dont have a prescription for anything better. The way I figure out how much to give is body weight to recommended human dose.
It dose sound like with the fight there was some internal bruising. so anti-inflammatory sounds like a good idea. Took April my goose to Colorado state vet emergence over 800 dollars later the sent me home with anti-inflammatory reast and pond time.

Happy to report that both boys are doing much better. Eyes are clearing up nicely. I was using an ophthalmic medicated gel I had on hand from my horse and potbelly pigs eye infection I had researched its safety for poultry so I have it a go. Thankful no one lost an eye! Drake is walking around much better. I looked him over again and he had a bunch of pin feathers growing in on his tail so maybe the fighting caused more soreness.

One more thing I want to pick your brains on. The guy arrived with this little spot on his bill. I've always wondered what it is. Shedding, infection, old injury? It doesn't bother him and it doesn't peel off. (I haven't actively tried, just when running my finger over it.) Any ideas?

That’s great they are both healing
To me it looks like an old injury. I have a few ducks that shed the beak and it’s a very thin layer
Your guy looks more like he got stuck and was rubbing hard to get unstuck ( just a guess )
