Drake is a MENACE!

I've been complaining about my pekin drake for awhile now- but he seems to be getting worse. He's a menace. That's all that can be said. As soon as he sees me from across the pond he b-lines for me. After landfall he runs as fast as he can at me- often with wings flapping. When he reaches me he stops- waits for me to turn around and then runs after me to nip my ankles. There is a constant sound of the furious flippity flap of duck feet behind me whenever I'm outside and I have to either run or brace myself for his annoying ankle nip. It in no way hurts- but it's frustrating since I'm supposed to be the boss and he's a little duck. I read on the board where someone suggested to tame a rooster you need to carry him around. I carried the menace around quite a bit yesterday- repeatly telling him I was the boss and today I got 5 ankle nips- most ever in one morning!
ADVICE- ANYONE?

one of my Indian Runner drakes acts like that. It started with breeding season. One of my geese is laying. We have no hens.
I've been wondering if it all has to do with the breeding season since he never acted this way before. Also, both of my drakes were doing this, but one has stopped with no "training session" from me.
Please keep everyone posted on how you deal with this and thanks for sharing.

Sounds like he wants to mate with you. Maybe you should pen him down (carefully) like another male would do. I would suggest wearing gloves and long sleeves. I haven't had this problem directly but I've seen it with geese. It isn't pretty.

Does he have ladies to mate with?

I have had a few drakes over the years during that during mating seasons. Monty my Aylesbury Drake was the worst- I have trained him to behave by turning him on his back. He would hear my opening the back door and come running- so I just turned him over on his back each time he went for the feet- and within a few days he had stopped. Some people say its about dominanc- amoung other possibilities- So turning him on his back was telling him I was more dominant. My feet have now been safe from attack since January.

Tweak is still learning, but he is half the size of a Pekin and I am 6' tall...so his attempts at domination are more amusing than anything. This has saved him from the soup pot

Yeah I have a Khaki Campbell drake that does this but I think it's hilarious. Also, when you pick him up to thwart him, he just looks so indignant about the whole thing.

Tweak had to endure some corporal cuddling this morning. I put him down and he tried again. So I picked him up a second time and THIS time I also held the back of his head like he does on the girls. He got the point after that.

I love the turning on his back idea~ I can't wait to try that. The drake does have a full time steady~ and she is definitely his woman and he defends her profusely. Yesterday morning he was up to his ankle biting antics- after his first nip I caught him and held him up to a fellow suiter Muscovy drake that has been eyeballing the girl pekin and hanging around. I told the pekin drake- in front of the Muscovy- that I was going to humiliate him in front of his peers if he doesn't knock it off and so far I've been nip free. Who knows how long it will last though...
