For context - My eldest drake, Cherry, was introduced to his 2 girlfriends in December of last year. He’s very kind to them both and follows them everywhere. I hatched 10 ducklings from them back in January / February, ending up with 3 drakes, 7 hens, or 4 drakes, 9 hens total (I’m looking to reduce those drake numbers).

Anyway.. Cherry hates the new girls! 3 of the new girls have been flirting with him, and all he does is poke at them to go away. I just watched him chase a girl around, she stopped to flat-back, but he only stopped to poke her in the neck

My 2nd eldest drake, Guava, is a very kind boy. He courts the girls well and mates with whoever asks. 2 of the girls who were flirting with Cherry have even switched over to flirting with Guava instead; he’s that good!

Will Cherry get over his spitefulness? It’s not like he’s oblivious, he knows they’re girls. He knows what flirting looks like. He’ll chase the other drakes away from the girls, but still refuses to mate with them. He almost doesn’t seem to like any of the new ducks. It’s just strange.

Strange indeed! But, I love your descriptions of the behaviors.

I wish one of my two drakes would show some indifference to a couple of my other ducks. Sheldon harasses and injures the other drake, and "romances" one of the girls to the extreme. I took her to the vet a few weeks ago when his enthusiasm ended with her torn eyelids.

The only seriously odd duck behavior here was a female who seemed to resent whenever Sheldon mated anyone else, Quinn would go crazy trying to distract him and lead him away from "the other woman."

Hope Cherry settles down or that someone here knows how to help. Quinn was crazy jealous until the day she died.

I'm with @Callender Girl I'd love to be able to say my youngest drake wasn't interested. Thank goodness I have many for him to spread the love around. :hmm
I have a Cayuga female who came to live with us in Jan along with her best bud a Runner well the drakes accepted the Runner but neither of them care much for the Cayuga I see her bobbing at them both but they seem to tell her by dropping their heads and kind of shoving at her that she isn't welcome. Thankfully she doesn't seem to mind and just goes about her business. I'm not sure if they will ever accept her.
