I was leaning towards drake too for the same reason..Voted drake.. Darn, Was too busy looking at bill color to notice anything else![]()

I had some trouble figuring out this ducks gender when it was young. Does your method work with it? It is a Khaki/Appleyard cross.I voted hen even though I didn't post. I payed close attention to the head, particularly the eye stripes: Although young drakes of certain breeds and crosses have the genetics to grow in green heads at a certain age, the bird in question has solid brown eye stripes. All the drakes I've had with these genes, even before they molted into nuptial plumage, had eye stripes with darker brown/dark green "leakage," where as the hens had consistently brown eye stripes.
You cheater!Only reason I knew it was a female was because I followed that particular thread. OP said she laid her first egg that pretty much said it all lol.
