I know what he said I read it, I just didn't know how to quote before so I put his name in speech marks under my comment to let him know that the message and question was for him. Why what is your point in copying the message???Neosporin (no pain reliever) and push the entire thing back inside is the first option for treating prolapse. He has to be kept away from the girls for a prolonged period of time to allow it to heal and stay in. Breeding can cause it to get worse and not correct. If it has been out (exposed) and is now turning necrotic it is time to take VERY sharp scissors (we use medical paramedic sets here) and cute behind where the dead tissue is, leaving behind only healthy tissue. Like a rubber band pulled tight, when clipped it usually recoils back inside quickly. We had a muscovy drake we had to cut this spring (May). He is back to full health this fall and breeding very well again now too. He was kept separate from the girls for 2 months, then one girl introduced so we could make sure he is ok to rejoin the group. This is what Celtic said
Maybe try a salt water bath..... you can always use some honey to smother his penis with - it has antibiotic properties.
Wishing you and him all the best!
Keep us informed PLEASE!

What breed of duck? maybe a dish pan something you can put him in and hold him gently so he has to stay in for at least 15 min. Epsom salt works real good but I'm thinking this is really going to burn. with newly cut skin. Is he Pekin? just looked back and saw the pic. poor fellow. Will do thank you, do u not think that if the duck drank the salt water that it was bathing in, it would harm it? Il post another pic soon![]()
You asked a question then said Celtic oak Farms so I thought perhaps you missed her telling you 2 months. Sorry if I upset you was only trying to help.
That is a valid point - I have used a saline solution for bathing my fowl with - I am not aware of any problems with salt in the bathing water - perhaps somebody here with knowledge can advise of any potential problem(s) using such methods - i admit that I do not allow my fowl to drink the water I am bathing them in - I am ever present when they are being treated - I always hold their beak/bill above the water line...
When applying honey I always use gloves - it is difficult to apply as honey can become very thick.....warm it in the microwave for a few seconds before use....it appears to be very soothing for the affected area(s) and using latex/rubber gloves is essential for both handler and affected animal to alleviate any risk of cross infection.
Your feedback would be much appreciated - do keep us updated!

Might be runner at least the smaller size you should be able to work with him better. Sure hope you see a big improvement in a few short days. Did the vet tell you to do anything special to it?Oh sorry I thought u was trying to say that I was pretending to be them
And write a message haha. Yeh that's a good idea I could probably just hold him in salt water maybe in a couple days so the wound has healed a little first? I'm not too sure what breed they are, they are all really big and white and they stand up right, maybe runners?
