Is it possible for a duck to get too heavy for its legs? My muscovy drake has gotten very much on the plump side as of late, and spends alot of time sitting. He can walk, he's just slower and waddlier then the hens, and there appears to be no sign of injury, soreness, lameness, illness, abrasions etc. He doesn't seem to ever stop eating.

How old is he? Their legs can give out over time an extra weight isn’t good.,What all are you feeding him?
He's 1.5. Today he is zooming around so I can't even get a video of what he does. Since I started giving the ducks and chickens seperate free range time 4 days ago he seems to be in better spirits, and alot less greedy at food time. Feeding a miced poultry scratch mix

Scratch isn’t a balanced diet. Too many carbs add weight also. Feeding an all flock with some scratch for a treat would be best. My drake that was a month shy of being 12 when he died could barely walk after he turned 9 I would carry him from his house to where he stayed during the day an back again in the evening. He could get around in a small enclosure with his females for company. I think weight and his constantly chasing drakes around caused his leg issues . He did enjoy his life though even though his chasing days were over.

Sorry mixed poultry, as in designed for chooks, ducks geese etc. Unfortunately not many feed choices out here it was either that or duck finisher :hmm. They do free range alot which use to make up most of their diet but since adding chickens to the mix they have become greedy guts. Okay think its time to persue making my own mix I'd love him to live that long!
