Advice Please!!! My ducklings are 6 weeks old now & growing so fast!!! I haven't sexed them but my husband thinks that the 1st born is a male because my drake is constantly attacking that duckling & he's ( the drake) getting more aggressive with the attack. Over the weekend all the ducks were out swimming & luckily I was out doing yard work, when I heard all this commotion & the drake had the duckling on the ground attacking & trying to mount it, the duckling was squirming around & gasping for air. I got him off the duckling & separated them but it happened again the next day. I realize that my drake is showing dominance but when will it stop??? I hate to continue to keep them separated but I don't want an injured or dead duckling. I figured since the ducklings are getting bigger that my drake will leave them alone but the problem is just getting worse.

The first duckling is most likely a male, the drake is just showing that he is the dominant one. It shouldn't get so serious that you will have a dead duckling, but soon you may have an injured one. Is there any way you can keep them seperated? It should stop once he is an adult, besides the occasional squabble.
