Please can someone advise me.. I have 7 drakes.. 2 runners. 2 cayugas 1 pekin and 2 aylesbury.. All was blissful till a couple of weeks ago.. I know it's because they're hormones are going crazy.. We Have split them into 2 groups.. The runners and cayugas and the big white ones.. This generally seems to have calmed the situation down
. But we let them run free with us out with them.all together. And they fight for the first 10 minutes then settle down.. So we put them in the same coop at nighttime.. Is this enough.. There seems to be 2 main victims
. One of the runners and one of the cayugas.. But at times they all have a go at everyone.. Shall I get a 2nd nighttime coop.. Shall I get rid of the bullies.. But I think someone else might just step in place.. One of my cayugas is now totally bald all around his neck and I'm pulling my hair out.. I dont know how long to try and bear with it and when to say enough is enough.. Or will this pass.. I cry myself to sleep every night as I don't want to see anyone leave as they are our family
. But I also can't sit by any longer and hope this resolves itself.. My poor cayuga.. Please can someone advise me..

I'm sorry you are having problems with your drakes. I feel that the safety of all your ducks is a priority, but I understand how agonizing finding the solution to that can be.

Rehoming drakes to pet only homes can be done, but it is usually hard. Until you find homes, or if you aren't ready to/don't want to rehome some members have success with separation. You can try separate coops, alternate foraging sessions, or even just a barrier in your existing coop/run.

first spring is the worst and then it should get better! seperate them into similar sized pairs for now, and then once mating season is over they could go back together

i would never recommend rehoming a drake unless you can find a perfect home, too many people will kill them. feel free to private message me if you have anymore questions about drakes, i have 3 drakes and they are the best pets ever
