Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I could write a book about my life, but I think the library would list it under fiction..
Joe came to change the main water lines from copper to PEX.
I had it all laid out how it should go.
But NOoo. Joe had his own plan.. so I just went back upstairs and let him go at it..
Only the cold line had a tiny drip drip. less than a pint per day..
So I go down to see how Joe is doing and see if I can be of some help.
Joe is working both the cold and hot lines..
Why? because Annie told him we wanted both changed over.. OK< but not at the same time !!!!
Don't get me wrong. Joe is a good worker and he sticks to the job until the end.. But, thinking ahead is not his strong suit ,.
Long story short .. (too late for that).
we went from drip drip drip to no water at all..
Joe is coming back today to finish the job.
fingers crossed..
Me? I am going outside to work on Ollie..
If that fails, I will make some sawdust in the shop.. I have a shelf project that I want to get done when the weather is warm for good.. I can cut most of the pieces ahead of time..
I have decided that the little lean to will be my big tool box.. I have a lot of pieces of peg board that I will line two walls with ,, above the shelf which will be four feet from the floor..
pictures will be forthcoming..
I am so ambitious in my mind,, I hope I can convert it into action..
Barb, after you remove the iceberg, Maybe lead poor old George up and down the ramp a few times so he gets the idea.. His memory will amaze you.

Best wishes with your ambitious plans, and for Joe's successful project work today!

Poor George just can't resist the smell of rabbits who are easily scaling the drift and hopping down the higher side. And, once George lands at the bottom, he panics and has to be towed back up -- he's a bit too heavy to easily pick up, so I have to push from his butt end or try to encourage him by snapping on a leash and pulling him upward.

:barnieDespite my best efforts to dissuade him, George LOVES bunny berries and will gladly take a little tumble to snack on some.

I finally got a chance to check Ollie out.
my first hunch was right. it appears that a gear on the distributor has broken a few teeth.,
now the almost impossible job of finding parts
for a 75 year old tractor.
if it involves camshaft damage, old Ollie will be retired..
the pex part of the plumbing is complete.
now the kitchen cold water faucet is plugged .
that should be fixed tomorrow. but at least we have hot water ,
and all the water in the bathroom is both hot and cold..
so we can take showers and flush the toilet.
I hope Poor George doesn't miss falling off of the glacier too much after it is gone..

I looked back in my writing. We had a very similar weather year in 2017. It stayed in the 30-40's the rest of February and warmed up in March. Hoping it goes that way too. I'm getting spoiled too with this weather. So easy to just get around the place.

Congrats on the plumbing, Jim. It's easy to take hot and cold running water for granted -- until you don't have it.

Many folks are in disbelief when I tell them that my 1915 farm house didn't have an indoor bathroom until the 1970's. At that point, the widowed owner's kids insisted she would have to move to town if she didn't upgrade from her outhouse. God bless Olive's children!!

I hope 2017's warm weather repeats itself because January's blizzard gave me more than enough snow, wind and frigid temps. George doesn't have to be concerned about missing the glacier at the end of the ramp yet. Despite 50-degree days, it's still a couple of feet high at the bottom, because it sits in the shadow of the garage. MAYBE while my sister is still here, we can chip away at it.

All the fiercely blowing snow made me aware of a design flaw in the roofing I'd added to one of my coops. My goal was to add ventilation, not snow, inside the coop. Yesterday, I took off the metal roofing and roofing paper, slapped down some plywood and am contemplating my new design.

While we were in town yesterday, we bought some "exotic" veggie seeds -- organic rocket arugula and some purple kohlrabi. Dad always planted kohlrabi, but his were white, and he certainly never went as fancy as arugula -- our greens were always just leaf lettuce.

good morning
I just had my first cuppa with the new plumbing
It was great.. we sure have it made with indoor plumbing and heat with no wood to cut..
I finally got out to check on Ollie. It appears that the gear on the distributor has a tooth or two broken.. I will know better after I get the distributor out.. I think I can find a replacement gear.. I will have to get the model number off of the distributor.. It is a Delco Remy,,pretty common..
I am thinking of lighting a fire in the wood burner in the shop and making some sawdust.
I have a few projects I want to do..
One is a silverware sorter for one of the small drawers in the kitchen. then the stuff in that drawer can be moved to a large drawer, where the plastic silverware sorter is , now.. Kind of bass ackwards, I think..
Annie worked her butt off and got everything out of the kaput freezer.. I will go down today and ust the shop vac to get the purple water out.
some berries kind of bled. lol
I don't know if that freezer will fit through the door. It was in place when I built the wall for my computer room down there.. might have to hire a crew to get it out and up the stairs.. Or find a use for it where it is..???
