Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

@lagrange chicks, those are some lovely greens!

Jim, did you find another freezer and did you get the leak fixed?

Lisa, I like lots of the old shows -- the black-and-white TV world seems much kinder and simpler than our modern one.

Most of the snow is gone, thanks to another 50+degree day. But, the biggest drift is still blocking the ramp from the deck. I could shovel it, but I'm hoping another couple of warm days will melt it with no more effort from me.

No new/used freezer. We gave up on that idea. Annie managed to cram much of the food into other freezers and she tossed out a lot of outdated items. The ferrel cat is feasting on tacos and old venison.
the wild birds, bluejays etc are eating old taco shells. why did we freeze them?
I don't even like tacos..
the leak is not getting any worse.
We turn the water on when needed.
I have all the fittings figured out that I will need to run the PEX tubing. However, the tools that bro in law said he would get for me have not arrived.
If I don't receive them by tomorrow, I am going to buy what I need..
Waiting on favors is costing me time..
I spent a lot of time on youtube and have learned a few shortcuts and tricks about PEX.
in the mean time I am I am enjoying this springlike weather..
I heard of people tapping trees and getting sap.. that can't be good for the trees, can it ?

completing a plumbing project is always so satisfying..
but at this stage of my life with bad eyes, questionable balance on the ladder and just getting old in general, plumbing is not too much fun anymore.
I went to Menards today and bought all the fittings and tubing,,,,I hope. I always end up going back for something I either forgot or to exchange something.
as it turned out, there were some fittings that they did not have so I had to reconfigure a few things. naturally it ended up costing more money..
my helper and tool man called. he can't come tomorrow. someone is going to be doing some welding for him. so Sunday will be the day.. If he can't make it, I will go pick up the tools and start alone.

got up at 3:3o. sat and pondered until 5;oo.
if I go back to bed my mind is going to want to ponder some more..
I am anxious to get into the wood shop and do some projects..
I wonder if the ground is thawed enough to do some rototilling.. I want to make a French drain away from the house.. I can't put rain gutters on because the snow sliding off of the metal roof just tears the gutters off..

My sister is coming up today, and one of our projects will be to clear away the remains of the "glacier" that's still blocking my deck ramp. Blind George has gone from shimmying through between the railings to scaling the frozen drift. Only problem is he can't see where the edge is and has fallen off once, poor boy.

Except the ramp (of course!) and just a couple of other places, the snow has melted. I'm hoping the predicted warm days this week will finish it all off.

Like you, Jim, I am anxious to get into the garage but mostly just so I can find everything I need. During the deep freeze, I got into the bad habit of just tossing stuff wherever and dashing back into the warm house. I need to restore some order!

My Seed Savers seed packets, which arrived last week, are spread out so I can see them and dream of actual spring. I KNOW we can't be done with winter this early!
