Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

good morning
yesterday I decided to not wait for a warm day with temps in the high 40's.
I went out and took the distributor off of Ollie. By my eye, it doesn't look damaged.
but it seems like the shaft is too out of alignment. I suspect a worn bushing.
I will take it to Motors Service and Supply
Let them look at it,
see how much it will cost to refurbish it.
I did not reset the live trap. going to hunt up the small one.
I don't know what set the trap off.
was thinking of going outside and finding a critter with peanut butter breath.

Yep, went to bed and it was starting to rain. Got up and there's snow on the deck ramp. Pretty crunchy stuff. Predictions of possibly 4 inches tonight, and I wish I had remembered to throw a row cover over some of the perennials that were a few inches tall already.

At least it will be too cold (for me!) to muck out coops today. I think I will finish re-reading a book that's the first one in a series. I have the next two ordered, and they should arrive in the mail next week.

Murray McMurray Hatchery, which is in the next county, is having a big to-do this summer that I wanted to attend, until I saw the cost. I just found out the keynote speaker is an author I'd like to hear, a horticulturist who promotes no-dig gardening. I have one of his books.

Here's the quandary: I think it's really too expensive, too much money to indulge myself for two days. The newspaper where I used to work keeps asking me to freelance some pieces, which would likely allow me to cover the event for free, with a press pass.

In the end, I will probably decide not to sell my soul and will just cough up the big bucks Or, sit home and pout that weekend.

Barb, consider it a vacation trip . if you really want to go..
I don't think snow will harm the early plants. My dad always planted his onions early . if it snowed on them, he would sa y, that's good nitrogen..
It looks like we got just about an inch of snow. it is sticking in the trees.. kind of pretty, now that I don't have to plow..

Good advice, Jim.

Years ago, I saw something in an antique shop that I really wanted for a collection, but the price was So High. I left the store, ruminated for about an hour and ran back to make the purchase because I realized I would feel worse about not getting it than I would about spending the money.

This morning, I spent the money! I will be attending the festival, with a VIP pass that includes Q and A's with the speakers, free on-site parking and "express entry" -- whatever that entails -- to the chick sale. And, at least until the credit card bill arrives, I feel GOOD!
