Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I always loved it when my dogs would find a rotted carcass in the woods and roll in it.
I guess they figured that if it smelled good to them, and tasted good, it must make good perfume ..
Annie won't let me pour bleach down the well.. She consented to vinegar ..
first I sprayed vinegar all over the ice maker. waited a few hours and now I am making ice cubes.. will see how that works..
we got barely an inch of snow. it all came after 4AM..was done before 7AM.
16F at noon.. really windy..
had some broasted chicken left over
I cut it into very small pieces. Annie made chicken noodle soup with a boulion cube and some seasoning.. it was very good with dinner rolls and black raspberry jelly

Nothing ever goes as planned.
I did get out to the shop. made a test cut on a board. the blade seemed plenty sharp. So I planed the board down and cut it into the finished dimension.. only 11 more to go..
It was not really warm at 53F . so I quit while I was still ahead.
Just as I walked out of the garage, the tractor fixit guy pulled in..
good news/bad news:
good news, the distributor and camshaft are OK.
bad news, a small gear deep inside of the engine is stripped.. best case, only the oil pan has to come off. worst case, the engine has to be pulled out..
as long as he can fix it, I will be happy..
Annie brought home some frozen pulled pork.. she heated up enough for a couple of sandwiches.. It was terrible..
dry, and had about the same taste as cardboard.. got out the Baby Ray's sauce. that helped..
then I took what was left, a couple of pounds, and put it into a pan on the stove.
added a couple of cups of water and some salt , pepper and onions.. after cooking it until all the water was absorbed, I added lots of Baby Ray's sauce.. it is edible, now..
I knew Baby Ray before he died..
He was the chef at the Wausau Club..

Jim I didn't know Baby Ray was an actual guy. That's cool to know that.
yes he was.
a friend and I were doing some remodeling at the Wausau Club. Ray made lunch for us every day..
One day we had four guys working doing drywalling.
that day Ray made a huge platter of cute triangular sandwiches.. I was a sight to see all of us covered in drywall mud eating those dainty sandwiches with our pinky fingers sticking out . lol

I, like Lisa, had no idea there was an actual Baby Ray -- and when I still worked a side hustle with my sister and brother-in-law's catering business, we served a LOT of Baby Ray's. Pretty cool that you knew him, Jim.

Best wishes with Ollie. When Dad died, the only one of his many vehicles that I wanted was his red and black 1995, extended cab F-150 pickup. And, I told the mechanic that I didn't care how much it cost to make it run. Doyle did a great job, and eight years later, my truck is still running well. Like me, its body has a few dings and scratches, but that's okay. And, there's only 84,000 miles on the odometer -- the truck's, not mine!

I am trying my best to remember that it's not spring, to look at the calendar and keep in mind that wintry weather still has plenty of time to show up. But, I did buy more seeds yesterday. Bomgaars is running a 12-percent rebate this weekend, so I loaded up on feed -- sheep and goat chow, duck feed, all-flock and layer crumbles, as well as overpriced Science Diet cat food for one of the kitties. That seemed a much better idea until I had to drag those bags out of the car and drop them into the garbage cans where I store them. My back is not thanking me this morning.

I'm not saying I spend too much time at Bomgaars, but as I was leaving, one of the cashiers said, "See you Tuesday"; Samantha knows I time my trips for the weekly senior discount day. Kevin, who brought the feed bags out to my car, just calls me "The Goat Lady" because I have a window decal that says, "Got goats?" Gee, I'm sure they recognize a lot of their customers, right?
