Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

i will try again
For a couple of days I could not post.
I had a long post that I lost as a result
that is a pretty team of horses.,
I grew up around horses. a few farmers used them in this area. Annie's dad never owned a tractor. My best friend's dad traded small time in horses. at times he would have 40 or more.
for a while, they did trail rides through the pine woods., I spent many hours leading people ., I met Annie that way,
when I was about 12 yrs. I had the "pleasure" of driving a 4 horse hitch. I sat on a drag/harrow and dragged the upper field after it was plowed. I was thrilled to do it. Only years later I realized that it was a shit job that the older boys didn't want to do. lol
I worked for a farmer when I was 15. he had a buckskin . it liked to buck and kick at people,
once he kicked at me just as I tightened the saddle onto him. he missed me but he stuck his foot right into the stirrup. good for him. I let his stand like that for almost an hour. He was happy to let me remove his foot. he never kicked again. he turned out to be a pretty fun horse to ride.

yesterday I finished the ceiling tiles on the garage wall. Annie said it looks nice.
today I am thawing 20 pounds of blackberries to start another batch of wine. too cold outside to do anything out there.
my sister had five teeth pulled from her dog's mouth. brings the total up to 10.
he has 32 left. very old dog. I think she should brace herself for his soon to come demise.
we had a nice rain last night. and then at 11AM today we had another one. still raining lightly yet.
we really need the moisture.
last week Dave helped me plant the pear tree. it needs lots of water.

We got nearly 2 inches of rain since last night. It was needed. The goose duck pond is filled to the brim and everyone is happily swimming. I'm glad we enlarged it this year. Must of hit a spring as water seems to stay in it. Maybe next year we dig it out some more.

another cold day. so I finished getting the second batch of blackberry wine going.
If it tastes as good as the juice does it will be a winner.
according to the hydrometer, it has the potential to be 15% alcohol. I will stop the fermention before that at about 10%. the remaining sugar will be left to sweeten it. that is my plan and I am sticking to it
made panang curry w/beef yesterday. I learned something about lemon grass. do not cut it up like a shallot or chives. use just 3" of the bulb end and leave it whole. remove it later like you do with bay leaves.
today Annie made strogonoph with the extra beef from yesterday.
our drought looks like it is over , at least for a couple of days.

Today we went and did our shopping. The combination of Friday and the 1st of the month made for a very crowded trip. Never seen so many people shopping, except for black Friday.

Debating adding a few more geese next year. Husband says go for it. I have 14. Is 19 too many? Thinking about trying African again. Maybe second time is the charm?

good first day of central natural time.
I didn't do much yesterday.
the second batch of wine did not start, . lucky I had a packet of yeast in the freezer. proofed it and then added it to the bucket. I had results within 15 minutes. Now I am worried about the first batch.,
I am watching it closely for any bubbles in the fermentation lock. I might have to restart it also.
that's about it. my whole life's story in one paragraph.
