Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Congrats on getting so much accomplished!!

My sister texted yesterday and totally surprised me, saying she and her Jim want to come up TODAY and stay over for Christmas morning. I've spent Christmas by myself since my Jim has been gone, and before that, I usually worked Christmas. BTW, I'm okay with solo holidays, but she seems to be really looking forward to it, so we'll do it!

Carolyn and I exchange gifts, but her Jim and I don't. Still, I can't let him sit here and watch us open presents and him not have any. So, I dashed out today and did some shopping. I also bought some groceries so I could make some slow-cooker chili; don't know what time they will arrive.

Four Mile, the opossum who has been stealing poultry feed, won't steal any more. On my way into town today, I spotted Four Mile, still warm, but dead along the side of the road, near my north fence. I moved his body off into a ditch. I'd rather he get eaten by predators than smashed onto the concrete.😥 I'll kind of miss the little thief. But, I KNOW the geese will not.

Merry Christmas everyone. :)

Merry Christmas.
the company are all gone. nice to have them here for awhile. the house gets soooo quiet afterwards.
we had eight for dinner. both grandsons. that was nice. we see Nate only on Christmas. Kalib is here every other week.
haven't seen our only grand daughter for a couple of years. she has four kids to raise.
I really felt bad when I heard about fourmile.
I wonder what kind of pet he would have been ?
probably tamer than our tomcat.

My computer seems to want to play nicely today, so I am going to attempt a post. IF it seems like I've stopped mid-sentence or have begun spelling words with unneeded double and triple letters, it means the wretched thing is toying with me again.

Christmas here went better than I expected. I used to work with my sister and her husband at their catering company, and he was the chief chef. So, I was pleasantly surprised when he complimented the food I served -- especially since he is a serious carnivore. I don't eat meat, and I also don't serve meat. He later told friends how good it was.

Looks like 2024 is going out on an unpleasant weather note. It rained yesterday and the day before (so the runs are majorly muddy) and is trying to decide today whether to rain more or offer up some sleet and snow, too.

IF the weather doesn't interfere, I plan, as in most year's, to attend the New Year's Day auction at my favorite auction house. There's so much stuff there I don't need but would be tempted to buy at the right price. :)

I should save my money because the plumber is coming out today to fix the shower and replace the cast iron lavatory sink (rust is eating away the part under the counter). My car will be back in the shop as soon as the latest part comes in.

Hope 2025 brings good news (and for Jim, good brews) to all!
