Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Jim I'm glad you have someone to help with that beer. I cannot image those wind speeds combined with fires. It is very sad.

Also pretty strange to see all that snow go south as well. I'm starting to think the days of snowy winters is gone. It's been many years since there was a decent snowmobile season.

We haven't had a snowmobile since the 90's. My husband has snowshoes but hasn't used them in a few years, and with his bad knees he probably never will. They are decorations at this point. I do miss sledding. Probably kill me at this point to try it again. I am not holding up well as a farm kid who did a lot of physical labor. I'm more titanium than human at this point.

So, with all that metal, you're kind of the Bionic Woman, Lisa?

As I've said repeatedly, I am not a fan of winter, cold or snow shoveling. While I find it more than a little unnatural to be snowless and with temps near and above freezing, I don't miss typical January weather.

I am currently dealing with car repairs and an annoying insurance adjuster, having just solved the plumbing issue and a "missing" deposit in my bank account (not really missing, thank goodness). I'm finding 2025 to be more challenging than I would like.

So, I was surprised and quite pleased to find Audrey, one of my Easter Eggers, had graciously gifted me with a lovely green egg yesterday morning. She has joined Columbian Wyandotte Valentina as the only girls who have resumed production.

I've been hoarding the last eggs of December, but soon I can break loose and make three-egg omelets again!

A first for me yesterday: I treed a possum. Four Mile's successor was ambling along the fence line when I went out to dump coop cleanings near the compost pile. By the time I emptied the bucket, the poor thing had climbed up the trunk of a mulberry tree -- to about my eye level --and stayed there motionless. He must have thought he was invisible. I bid him adieu and walked away.

Barb, I wish I was bionic. I can still here that sound effect every time they did something with their bionic limbs.

I think this new year is jinxed. Stuff keeps going wrong here. Nothing big, but enough to not expect much.

Congratulations on the eggs. I'm getting more here as the last June batch starts up. Gonna have too many eggs very quickly.
