Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Weather here matched your 14-below overnight. I am happy that all of my critters survived. It's supposed to warm above zero today.

Also, I have talked with the furnace repair company and someone is scheduled to come out this afternoon. Hurray! I won't miss the river in the basement. I have been using a Shop Vac to try to control it.

Last night I had the dogs out to do their business on their side of the yard when something caught all of our attention. Apparently, one of the geese must have been having zoomies when a very strong wind gust lifted her over the fence. Neither of them can truly fly and don't try to cross the fence. Gussie plopped down in the yard and panicked. She and Golly rarely leave each other's side.

I rushed the dogs inside and Gussie, who was frantically calling to her sister -- who was yelling in return -- allowed me to pick her up and put her back over the fence. Gussie ran toward Golly, and all was well in the lives of the geese. I only took one wing slap to the face.

Glad you saw your goose was out Barb, and for her back in fairly easily. Also glad they are going to repair your furnace quickly. Hopefully it isn't anything expensive.

We are freezing. -16 currently. Gotta get back out there to finish feeding critters. I'm stalling.

Sorry if I grossed everyone out with my rodent pictures. It sure freaked me out. I will delete them.

So cold. I can't add anymore outside critters. It's getting too hard to care for them these days. Not looking forward to next week at all.
Is it even possible to gross out people on a poultry forum? :gig I thought your mole discovery was very interesting!

Temperature is already 19 degrees, and we are supposed to be just slightly above freezing today. And, also exciting, the River of Overflow in the basement is no more, thanks to a very nice furnace repairman who showed up EARLIER than scheduled. :celebrate

The only (fairly possible) thing I can think of that would make the day even better is if the dealership and insurance company have stopped squabbling over the cost, and I can get my car back today. Sigh. A girl's gotta have a dream, right?

I am glad the furnace is fixed. One thing at a time.
Trudge on , don't give up.
2 above this morning. 26 degrees warmer than it was yesterday. sure can feel it in the house, although the temperature shows comfortable.
the wall heater in the bathroom quit blowing warm air. we picked up a new heater. just have to find time in my "busy" day to replace it. maybe tomorrow ?
also the wall thermostat went cafluie.
it doesn't shut off. been waiting for Annie's brother to come take a look at it. called an electrician. he wanted almost $2O:hmmo to install a $20.oo part. that comes to about $ 7oo.oo/hr.
I think he was a former brain surgeon. quit that to make more money as an electrician.
