OMG you have it worse than I do!!!I'm running all kinds of schemes myself too. Way too many with chicks, hatching eggs, ducklings, poults, goslings, and kittens.
I used to make pickles. I stopped because I can't do all that anymore. It's easier to buy them now for me. I may try some quick refrigerator ones this year.
OMG you really do have it so bad!!!Winters are too long here which gets me in trouble. Way too easy to order things too.
Most of mine don't come until June. I have 29 chicks coming, and 4 more geese. Turkey poults, 15 of them ship June 15. I have one bantam hen currently with 7 chicks, probably another with 8 chicks tomorrow or Monday, and one sitting on 3 due in 2 weeks.
My vet tech is gonna get me some pheasant eggs I'm gonna stick under some bantam hens to hatch. I have a dozen lavender Orpington hatching eggs coming mid May. I have a muscovy hen sitting on 13 eggs.
I think that's it.Oh and the kittens, and of course my pup which is doing very well.
Yeah, I haven’t had any in a while but I love the bread and butter kind. I want some now.we used to can pickles. when the kids were still at home to eat them, I can live without them.
I do like the Vlasik spicy slices..
If you are transplanting peppers, do them like you do your tomatoes. put them into the ground right up to the bottom leaves. I learned this trick from a friend who really knows how to grow things. Your peppers will have much thicker walls. Mine were four time as thick as store bought peppers.. I plant only green peppers..
If you can get bees to visit, your vine crops will produce ten fold. We had a hive of honey bees . Until they froze out..
when I can tomatoes, I do not peel them.
I cut the stem out and run them through the food processor, but the next time I do tomatoes, I am going to scoop out the seeds and that jelly like substance they are in. I should get a thicker juice that way.
..My dad made pickles once right after he got married. I wasn't born yet for 8 years but mom used to tell us about it.. He added so much salt that they couldn't eat them. He dumped all the jars out behind the barn.
He claimed that they didn't rot for five years.![]()
