Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Frogs started cloaking here the other evening before everything turned cold. I bet they regret that. I also saw a poor worm in a puddle. Hard to say if he drowned or froze first.

Sounds like a wonderful dinner Jim.

Is that a Brittany spaniel? @rjmyooper

Yes. She just turned 2 on St. Patrick's day. AKC dropped the "Spaniel" from the Brittany's, so now they are by themselves as a breed. She's pretty animal crazy, but she started life with a cat and didn't eat it. Good with other dogs, but untested with the ducks.

I was aware they dropped the spaniel label as they are said to be more like setters. It's just a habit to tack the spaniel part on.:) We considered one but I'm reading they are crazy high energy, and I no longer am.

Happy Easter
Well, the brined turkey meal turned out very well. The turkey was delicious and fall off the bone tender.
there were just six of us here to eat.
Note: the juice from the turkey was quite salty. Annie made gravy with it, she had to dilute it with water. She didn't salt the mashed potatoes. It was fine.
My brother had a brittany. It was afraid of water. Turned out that the guy he got it from sprayed the pups with a hose when he thought they were barking too much. It took some doing, but the dog got over it.

My Brittany only goes knee deep at the lake. I even threw in a toy and a treat. She wouldn't go for them.
I'm glad dinner turned out well for you.

I should go out and look around more. I think plants are getting tired of waiting on warmer weather. I swear it's still gonna be snowing in June this year the way things are going.

I charged the battery on the rider and went down to check on the trees and stuff.
The trees have sap in their trunks. good thing.
the garlic is up. needs mulching.
the rhubarb is up. No asparagus is up yet.
the grapes made it through winter without the rabbits chewing them off.
If the new ones show signs of growing, I will build a trellis for them.
that's about it. 5=

I see the deer came up in the yard and nipped the ends off my fruit trees. I guess we are done with the pact where they stay out of the yard.

I planted some lettuce and radish seeds over the weekend. I was tired of waiting. They should be okay.

so far our doe has not returned.
we are wondering if she will have her fawns in our yard again.
the rabbits and red squirrels are all over the place.
my garden plot is too muddy to do anything with.
my tractor is still at the fixit shop.
I have to give them another call.
If I can't plow, we won't plant any corn
