Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

it was 45F when I got up this morning
we went for a few groceries and had breakfast at the Blue Willow.
Noon now. finally warm enough to go move some junk around.
I don't have any company coming, so it will be just Annie and me doing all the work.

Everyone gets up too early. I'm a night owl. Gonna harvest the few beets I have today and have them for supper. Potato crop was pathetic. I think I will skip growing them next year.

I corrected my post. Autocorrect had me harvesting beers instead of beets. Maybe not a bad idea today.

Just came in . that beer sounds good.
we can actually walk the whole forty feet inside the lean to. still lots to get rid of, though. boxes and boxes of tiny ceramic figures. painting them was the late Ken's past time. there must be thousands of them. his favorite colors was yellow for all the angels' hair. and blue for their gowns.
and there are tiny animals, too.
I believe neighbors and strangers dropped off things in my lean to.

Got the trails mowed on all 8 acres, thankfully it wasn't hot

Lots of time with my youngest and chickens today. Went for a walk with her and she talked my eat off, she is 8, one of my favorite ages to watch them grow and develop who they are.

Took the pup outside for some walking in the yard and just gentle at time. She eyed until she was so tired that she fell, came inside and gave her a treat and a pain pill and she settled in her bed for the night.

I am also on board with harvesting beers!

I'm pretty sure I know exactly who filled my garage, garage addition, basement and barn with stuff. But only one of us is still alive to clean out all the unnecessary things. I can't even figure out what much of it is, but I sure appreciate that Jim bought top-of-the-line DeWalt tools. Of course, if you have those, you can't blame the tools when your projects fail. LOL!

I only had six cedar boards to stain, but four was the most I could fit on my cardboard-covered sawhorses, so I will do the last two today.

Hope your dog has a good day today, Anjanet. A good day for her means a better day for you, too.

Lisa, if I gave up growing everything that failed this year, I would have an empty garden next year, except for a few hardy tomato plants. The drought was tough on everything, even though I watered regularly.

Labor Day already! How did that happen? Where did summer go? However, there's still some summertime weather predicted here, so I can keep working on the endless list of outdoor projects.

Thanks Barb! You are right when the pooch is good I am good

We have warm weather ahead this next week too, not quite fall yet though the nights are beginning to feel like it.

Lisa, same as Barb if everything that failed in my garden was never planted again I would not have a garden. This year was hard but I make notes and adjust or re-evaluate the needs and likes of my family and plan the next year around that. This year the berries were great and the kids want more, so more berries next year it will be!

Jim, glad to hear you can walk into your lean to! Progress always feels good.

Hope everyone takes a little time off today. I just got done doing morning chores (and I had a helper that had gotten up too early) and am settling in to read some of my book for a bit and enjoy some coffee.

I slept in until 6AM today. that felt good.
enjoying being the only one up and having a peaceful cuppa.
I would not be as far along in the lean to if it weren't for Annie. She is a cleaning dynamo.
I have a small maple tree to cut down. It is in the way for me to make a decent swing with the tractor to get it into the lean to.
I found two extra gas welding regulators and a cutting torch.
these are items that DD's ex left behind when he abandoned her and went to Colo. He also left a lot of mechanic's tools. Also left her with a lot of unpaid bills. then he had the gall to ask her to send all of his stuff to him. that didn't happen.
I am happy about that because she gave most of the tools to me.
everybody keep on keeping on.
enjoy the cooler weather before the heat returns.
