Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I have a lot of catching up to do! After Wednesday's weird weather, my Internet has been down until just a few minutes ago. The IT guy from my former job came out and fixed whatever went haywire.

I didn't realize how much time I spent online until I couldn't. Now, I have to delete a gazillion junk emails.

Happy birthday to Annie; hope dinner is great!

I almost went crazy without internet for a week when the lightning blew out my modem. Glad you are back Barb.

Thanks for explaining that Jim. Didn't know that's what that do-hickey was called.

Enjoy your meal out. Always love a good discount.

thank you, despite a minor set back we had a good time.
we signed in when we got there. told there would be a 35 minute wait.
no problem. finally everybody was there. 8 of us.
we waited and talked to other people who were waiting.
having fun.. then the time passed and almost an hour
had passed. people were coming in and not waiting
with us. Annie inquired how long yet ? and why were
people getting seated almost immediately ? not just one
or two,,lots of them.. she was told that they called ahead.
Annie said that they didn't take reservations.. the woman
said, no. we don't but we take call ins....what the H is the
difference ? well, we waited two hours for our table.
the food and service was OK. but I don't want to go
back there again. I have no problem avoiding anywhere.
I was all for walking out and going across the street to
Hardee's .
I don't suppose that they will notice the 56 meals that
they will not be selling each year.
Oh yes, one more thing. one of our guests asked
to see the manager.. She was told that he was too busy..
my next post will be lighter .

I had a similar experience last fall when I was supposed to meet some friends for dinner. They wanted to go to a steakhouse that I'd never been to. I got there first and asked if they had made a reservation. No, I was told. But they immediately took my name and put me on the "waiting list."

Although there were only a few other people in the place, and I could see empty tables, we waited for more than an hour to get seated and another hour to get food. Service was pleasant but not overly competent, and the food was incredibly mediocre.

I have worked in many restaurants, managed some and owned a small sandwich and doughnut shop. I never made a distinction between reservations and call-in's, which I see as people calling to make a RESERVATION to get a table and food. And no manager should ever be too busy to talk to a guest -- even if he is on the line cooking, his ears should still function fine.

Noel was here for the weekend. He was fussy so
I got to hold him. a couple of minutes of rocking
with the old man and he settled right down.
babies can sense when a person is relaxed or not..
the kids went out for awhile. I held him the whole
time they were gone. we both napped a little.
I am trying my best to spoil him..
Sam and Noel went back to Conover, Kalib has to work
until Wednesday, then he will head up there, too.

looks like the freezing rain is over.
have some big branches hanging low.
one of the pine trees in the wind break
snapped off about half way up.
about a quarter inch of ice on everything.
Annie is napping. Kalib is sleeping because
he worked all night. Randy is gone. It sure is
quiet around here..
I think I will poke around on youtube for
awhile.

watch your step. when it is melting you leave a
footprint. then it freezes and you have an icy pothole.
next weekend should make a nice dent in the snowbanks.
today it was warm enough to get the cottontails hopping.
they sit tight when it is cold.
I went to town with Annie today. So, I didn't get
to work on fixing Ollie. Oh well, there is always tomorrow.
I hope....
Tomorrow we are going to meet the citrus truck from Florida.
Annie wants to get a case of tangerines.
I sold two wire chicken cages today.
