Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Yah, what would we do if we didn't have jobs to do.?
Today it is supposed to be relatively warm, for winter.
I AM going to get Ollie out and fix that bracket.
If I have time I will plow where the pickup truck couldn't
reach.
supposed to get 3 to 6 inches tonight.
I have been relatively pain free for a few days.
I want to start walking more. I need exercise.
I don't like to exercise,
we have one or two cats hanging out in the
garage. I don't think they are generous enough
to do their duty outside. I imagine there is a
toilet area somewhere upstairs. should be "ripe"
when the weather warms up.. I hope they at
least went in one area instead of going all over..
this winter we did not have any mice in the house.
DD Barby said she might have some casters. all I need
are four more right away. the table saw has them,
not real good ones, but they will do for the time being.
If Barby come through, I will change them out.

Cats. That's all I got about that subject. They sure find bad spots to do their business.
Yah, and upstairs in the garage there are plenty
of cavities to choose from.. I hope it doesn't get
too stinky..
today I repaired the bracket on Ollie. gassed him
up and pushed some snow around. the ice under
the snow finally caught me. I had to call a friend with
his 4WD to pull me loose.
the thin layer of snow on the ice turned to slush.
if it freezes , that will not be good. but if the sun
shines, it can get at the ice, now..
it got up to 43F here. I actually worked up a sweat.
Barb, if you can keep up with the weeds, your onions
will do just fine..
we are debating if we will plant anything.
no chickens = no fertilizer. not good for corn.

Good deal on fixing Ollie and congrats on having someone help you pull him loose.

Yesterday was the perfect example of the old joke -- If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.

It was overcast and above freezing in the morning. At about 11, tiny snowflakes started to fall but melted as they hit the ground. All the mud became even muddier, and the snow became sleet. Then, by 4, it was bright and sunny, and dry. Last night, there was heavy rain, crashing thunder and incredible amounts of lightning. I feel like I went through an entire year of weather in less than 24 hours.

Barb, that was the sample case.. You are supposed to pick one.
after all of that exercise I had yesterday, I am stiff in the
shoulders, a little painful, but none of the head aches..
My second day without the head pain.
After yesterday, I am not too anxious to plow snow
with Ollie. If it weren't for the ice, I wouldn't hesitate.

It just occurred to me I should probably start my tomatoes soon. Winter seems so long this year I figured we had another few months, but hopefully within 6-8 weeks spring will be here. Doing the math on that it is a couple of months.

speaking of tomatoes. we are having BLT's for lunch.
I like the fresh tomatoes where I can cut a slice right
out of the center and don't have to piece three
or four pieces into the sandwich. and then they
take turns sliding out ..
it looks like about six inches of snow for
this round. I saw the snow plow go up the road.
so we are officially socked in.
I suppose I will have to start Ollie up and go
get rid of the mound..

I went and cleared the snow from the end of the driveway.
as long as I was that close to the mailbox, I cleared that, too.
On the way to the road I pushed a path with the bucket. so on
the way back I widened the path.
pulled the snow away from the garage door, then pushed that
pile off to the side. Might as well clear the whole parking area.
So I got everything plowed.
that snow was so wet that I actually squeezed water out of it
just by driving back and forth.
this morning all the snow slid off of the garage roof. I heard
it when it happened.

Congrats on the plowing, Jim! And, good luck on those tomatoes, Lisa! I'm still waiting to see if my onions seeds will germinate in the next few days. If so, I may try starting some other veggie seeds.

I guess today's weather serves me right for whining about all the muddy dog tracks on the kitchen floor. Now, the snow is back. Hasn't been cold long enough for all the poultry waterers to freeze -- yet. Feels like winter is going to last forever.

We had a very small celebration in honor of my crazy rescue dog Dinah's arrival here 3 years ago yesterday. Each dog got some blueberry-and-peanut-butter treats from Bomgaars. Neither Dinah nor I liked each other immediately. We are best buddies now.

Barb, you might as well mix up some potting soil.
you are too far into it now , to back out..
If summer or spring doesn't come soon, I am
going to have so many projects lined up that I
will need two summers to get them all finished.
DD Barby has some casters, I am gently leaning
on her to give me a few.. She knows what I am up to.
I might have to play the sympathy card..
She does the same to me. lol
Annie got five cases of bottled water
on sale. each case weighs fifty pounds..
I hauled four of them up the wheel chair ramp
on the dolly.
that is more than I ever want to do again..
