Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

last night my brother and his wife took us out for
an ayce family style dinner in a neighboring town.
It was broasted chicken w/all the trimmings.
very good and the waitress was perfect..
I ate too much.. but I can live on salads for a
few days..
after sunset there was a clear sky. there was
just a sliver of moon hanging up there.

Friends who own a rustic motel on the North Shore of Lake Superior sent photos of the northern lights that they could see from their backyard last week. None visible here, though.

Weather was a balmy 50 degrees yesterday. But, it's been steadily snowing here for the last two hours, which greatly reduces the likelihood that I will travel to an antique and collectibles auction today where I didn't need to buy anything anyway.

My first indoor Walla Wallas are still growing, and a few of the second batch are starting to break through the soil. Feeling better now about planting some of the lettuces. Of course, if this goofy weather doesn't settle down, who knows if I can keep any of them alive long enough to transplant outdoors?

BTW, I got a new locking socket wrench extension. It was long enough but I failed to get one with a diameter small enough to fit the socket wrench and the 5/16 socket. Another trip to town followed, and I exchanged the extension for a slimmer one. Finally got the battery installed and picked up my hay Friday.

An online friend sent me a photo of about a foot of snow in Dubuque. How's the white stuff in Wisconsin?

glad you got the battery project done.
we still have plenty of snow in the fields.
no new stuff for a few days. the southern part
of wisc got hit with about eight inches of wet
heavy snow. but my friend reported, that it is
melting fast..
my brother helped me get the saw laying on
it's side on the saw horses. Now I can get the old
casters off and get an accurate measurement of
the bottom of the stand.
I still can't believe how messy the shop is.
I will have a lot of cleaning to do before I can
do any work in there..
I am too emberassed to post before and after pics.

Me too, we can finally walk all the way to the garage on granite.
I was just out to the shop. good news. I don't have to make
a new roll around frame for the table saw. I was checking
what tools I would need to take the two inch wheels off.
I noticed that the frame was recessed enough so that all I have
to do is put the new wheels on. ta daaa,,done..
I made biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Nobody but me likes
it. It was the best batch I made so far. I didn't add any sausage to
it in case I messed up again.. but next time....I used bacon this time
the trick is plenty of black pepper..
