Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Husband is doing what we hope is the last lawn mowing, but probably isn't. We are putting all the clippings and leaves on my garden boxes and the rest go into the poultry runs.

@Sequel that sounds like a nice afternoon. I miss roll up windows on vehicles. The electric window is always so hard to get right where you want it, and the vehicle has to be running in most cases to raise or lower them. Good old elbow grease is always available. Also miss those little triangle windows cars used to have.
Oh yes the wing windows! Isn't that what they were called? They were great, especially since it seemed like most people smoked and they were good for venting smoke without blowing the heads off everyone else in the car!

Yup, everybody quit smoking , so they eliminated the vent window.
we called it the 270 air conditioner. Open 2 vents and drive 70 mph.
we don't need AC lately, though. broke down and turned on a little heat.
I loaded two trailer fulls of granite for DD Barby. sitting on that cold
steel tractor kind of chilled my old bones.
apples are still falling off of the tree. just one or two a day.
we have never had such big apples off of that tree. they are bigger
than the Granny Smith ones is the store.
taste better, too.
to pass the time, we are doing jigsaw puzzles. With my bad eyes
and color blindness, I am not much help.. I am not bad on sky or
patches of light colored areas.

Jim I love doing puzzles. It's one of my favorite hobby. I have lots of puzzles, and am always working on one.

I have an eye exam today and will be unable to read for a few hours. Will be a boring afternoon.

I fired up our heater yesterday to make sure it works. Still opened a few windows at bedtime. We always have a few dogs in the bed with us and they sure do heat stuff up. I know what a 3 dog night is. We aren't there yet.

we like the interlocking puzzles. those squiggly edged ones
are too difficult.
today the new/old car is going in for a new resonator.
it is too rusted to try to weld.
our cell phones still do not work. three weeks now.
thanks T Mobile. shopping for a new company.
might try Spectrum.
I hope we get a sunny day soon, with a little warmth.
I have to fix the parking area where I removed two
trailer loads of granite for DD Barby.
Our resident buck has not been back. at least not
in the daytime when we could see him. Annie wants
to get a trail cam.. I think it would be interesting to
see what goes on during the night.

We have a few game cameras set up here. It's interesting to see what's about. Not too keen on the coyotes.

That's a long time to go without phone service Jim. Hope you find something else soon. Are they still charging you for their service? So frustrating.

we have land line phone. just no cell service.
t mobile has sold several of their towers. ours was one of them.
trying to save money for the executives and stock holders.
and to h##l with us customers. we are not the only ones
without any service.
yes, the bill was not eliminated.
we are not going to pay it.
they breached the contract.
we checked with spectrum. they do have
a good signal where we live.
yesterday we got a resonator put on the
new/old nissan . had the mechanic inspect
the underside. some rust, but not anything
structural. said we might need new brakes
in a couple of years. the way Annie uses them,
I think it will be sooner..
last night we put the frame together for
the next puzzle.
tomorrow it is supposed to rain all day.
they are saying 2".

Weather folks were right: it rained last night. Looks like about half an inch with more rain predicted for the weekend. So, since I knew that, I should have already installed metal roofs on the two coops, right? I was SURE I had the right-sized bits for the pole barn screws. And, I was wrong. I stapled on the roofing felt and will visit Menards on my next trip to town.

My problem with puzzles is that I lay them out on the dining room table, and every time I walk from the living room to the kitchen, or back, I pretend I'm just going to do just a couple of pieces. Of course, I always spend way more time on the puzzle -- and less time on boring chores -- than I should.

Best wishes with the cell phone situation., Jim.

Hope your eye exam went well. Lisa. I finally turned on the furnace last night. I only have one dog who climbs onto the bed, but Dinah really made extra heat unnecessary last night.
