Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I have an eye appt every six months.
Glaucoma, they like to keep a watch on it.
The new Dr was more sociable this time.
Last time she was still new and probably not at ease, yet,
Annie has picked up a part time job. She will be staying over night with an 81 yr old lady.
she could stay here with an 81 yr old man, but I wouldn't pay her for it. lol
I have not had to water my new pear tree since I bought it. the rain takes care of it. It is still in the big pot I put it in. Too wet to rototill and dig a hole for it. It didn't have much roots. but it is looking very good.
I have the urge to make some rhubarb wine.
I mentioned that to Annie. She said, there will be lots of blackberries, too..
She won a bottle of rhubarb wine at the bash.
maybe I will taste it before deciding to make some.
My sauerkraut is ready to can.

It's nice you haven't had to water the pear tree, but it would also be nice if you could get it in the ground. Lately, it seems like every rain here turns into a storm. Last night's "severe thunderstorm warning" poured down rain in sheets and took out the TV for a while.

Good luck with the wine making. My dad liked to make wine and would try making it with anything. His best: sour cherry; and his worst: onion! I once broke a bottle of cherry wine taking it down to the basement, and where it splashed, it literally took the paint off the wall. But, hey, it tasted great!

Following the adage that no good deed goes unpunished, I got a call from the vet that Ozzie's sample came back positive for roundworms. I got the first dose of dewormer down him, and hopefully, it stayed down before he vomited all over the bathroom a few hours later. He has a separate litter box and none of the others are allowed in the bathroom, so my vet said I don't have to deworm everyone else in the house, thank goodness.

I am hoping to get the two still-outdoor adult cats neutered, and take all the kittens in for their first check-up next week. I'd love to get my hands on the idiot who dumped those poor cats here.

The cuteness of a half dozen six-week-old kittens is amazing. So is their ability to sleep and play right in front of the back door. I'm sometimes held hostage in the kitchen because there's just too many of them to scoot out of the way safely.

Because of the high infestation of wood ticks, mosquitos, flies and gnats, my weekend guests -- who were going to "camp" in tents out by the barn -- are now planning to stay indoors. Guess I will have to clean the upstairs bedrooms instead of just closing the doors and hoping no one is nosy!

Annie and I were both in the shop today.
She was cleaning and straightening out things. Finding things and asking me what the heck is this ?
I was making messes.
I repaired one of the parts of the glue up table that I split with a screw. got that in a clamp with dowels and glue. then Annie found my long lost.in.the.shop discharge chute for the planer. I move onto that project and re attached it. Then I realized, with the chute in place, shaving would shoot all the way across the room. So I found a piece of 4" flex tubing and a tote with a cover. cut a hole in the cover, poked the tubing in and now I have a dust collector for the planer.
We were both too tired to fix lunch, so we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken. We haven't been there in many years. It was good. Somebody els's cooking is always good.
Last night we had a good thunderstorm roll through. It wasn't as bad as the forecasters were saying it would be. I actually fell asleep about ten minutes into it.
a few days ago they were telling us we were going to have four days of total sunshine.. well, the first two days , the sunshine was awfully wer.
Lisa didn't make hay, I will bet.

I was thinking of ordering KFC tonight but haven’t yet.

Congrats on your planer project, Jim!

Lisa, will you ever get to cut hay? The weather this spring has been chaotic.

I would be happier with the veg garden if something wasn't making lacework out of the plant leaves. I doused everything with Neem oil and am hoping for the best. My lone snap bean plant has a whopping three pods, and I bought some clearance-priced collards yesterday to fill in where none of my lettuces came up.

The four houseguests arrived last night, and the remaining three "day-tripping" adults (and one child, described by her parents as "chaos toddler") are due in today. I had a full-page, typed list of projects prepared for their arrival, and we started strategizing last night -- as much as I can strategize when I'm drop-dead exhausted. My house wouldn't pass the white glove test, but it's as clean as I could muster up energy to clean it.

I ended up sleeping on the sofa after the second time Dinah began furiously barking; my goal was to quiet down critters -- because Dinah can't bark without George joining in -- so the guests could be refreshed and ready to work :D. I am much less than refreshed.

I was unpleasantly surprised to see that someone had not properly shut the bathroom door, and Ozzie was at large somewhere in the house. I found him under the dining room table, and all of his toys had been "collected" by George --who takes any treasure he picks up and puts it in the library. I am hoping no one got to Ozzie's litter box because I don't want to deworm more pets.

I am looking forward to regaling everyone with the list of all stuff we get done, fingers crossed that it doesn't rain!
