Question for anyone who might know ...

I have some sickly chickens (4-8 weeks old) They are VERY skinny, but the food is disappearing .... I think the problem here may be some are eating some are not. Anyway, we did a necropsy yesterday,a nd the porr chick has dried blood in her intestines. It was so hard we needed a knife to cut through it. Any comments?

Dried blood? I think the hard and dried may have occurred postmortem. However, blood, and skinny chicks points to a cocci overload. Sulmet or amprolium at this age can treat it no problem. Cocci kills and it kills fast.
