My girls love mealworm treats. I have to say I have spoiled them. I decided to have a mealworm farm (cheaper than buying bags of them already dried). I have done some research on how to care for the mealworms - which seems to be easy. I ordered 3,000 mealworms and hope that they will produce mass mealworms for my girls. I have been trying to find a good way to dry the mealworms for storage for later use. Can anyone give me any pointers on how to do this? I have read about baking in the oven or the grill. What is the best method for doing this?

Thanks for the help!!!!

I've never used it for mealworms, but I make beef jerky in my dehydrator all the time, which is basically the cow equivalent of dried mealworms. The screens included with a dehydrator might be too wide for mealworms, but there's no reason you couldn't put them on a window screen on top of the frames.

the dehydrator will work but you need to euthanize them first. I recommend rinsing any frass off of them and putting them in the freezer for 24 hours or so. Otherwise they will escape from the dehydrator. Getting mealworms out of carpet isn't any fun.
