Dried poop on chicks butt

hi all, we just got 3 bantams and 3 sex links. 2 of the baby bantams just got dried poop on their butts from overnight, I can't get the dried poop off, I tried using a soft washcloth and warm water and gently wiped the dried poop but I can't get it off them. I don't want to stress them out they are 2 weeks old but my friend who also has chickens said I have to get the dried poop off as its hazardous to the chicks... the chicks are pooping, I watched them poop and they are pooping ok, but I cant get the poop off

Help....
I know this is an old post but I just ran into the same issue with 8 bantam silkies and I tried wiping them and also tried running warm water over their butts but nothing was working. I wound up having to get a bowl of almost hot water and I let it cool off just a little before I placed their little bottoms in the water while I was holding them in my hand and just held them their for a moment and it was enough to soften the dried stool enough that I could then use a washcloth to slowly and methodically remove the stool.
