Chickens are such contrary creatures! I provide a nice big dog bowl of clean water, and check in on things throughout the day. Mine love drinking rainwater as it runs off icicles, or drips down the wire. Mud puddles, you name it. They drink from their bowl too, it just drives me nuts when they tank up at a nasty puddle in the yard.

We made an automatic waterer from an old five gallon bucket. We set it up on bricks and because its hooked up to the hose it never gets tipped. During the summer we had it hooked to the outer wall of our coop so our ducks could stick their heads through the chain link and get a drink worked awesome!

In the summer my chickens like to drink from the drain from the A/C. Curious little girls. They supervise everything I'm doing.
