Driver's Ed! BLAH!

I failed the driving part of driver's training "back in the day." Let's just say I didn't know a car could do that and stay in one piece.

I took it again and passed easily. Since then, I've never been in an accident and have only had two speeding tickets in ten years. I think nerves had a lot to do with not passing the first time.

He shouldnt yell at you while you are in the car driving..what an idiot! Does he want you to jump or something and loose control of the car? Again..hes an idiot..

AND i'd tell him to not yell at you..you can do that. IF he is indeed doing it as you describe. Good luck..

gosh that sounds like you can't wait to be out of there. just a question, don't you have to have a certain number of hours logged in with your parents or whoever before doing the in-car? here they recommend that you've driven at least 10. maybe it's different between ohio and kansas. And trust me. your not the only one who's gotten the brake and gas mixed up

(then they throw the clutch pedal in there on me and I'm a total mess *sigh*)
hang in there. it'll all be worth it.

Have faith in yourself Em. You're a smart, brave girl from what I have read of your posts. Your nerves (and your instructor yelling at you

) may get the best of you but if you have passed the written parts of the course, you know the rules - you just have to focus yourself put into practice what you have learned. We're pulling for you!!!

Car Crash Stats: There were nearly 6,420,000 auto accidents in the United States in 2005. The financial cost of these crashes is more than 230 Billion dollars. 2.9 million people were injured and 42,636 people killed. About 115 people die every day in vehicle crashes in the United States -- one death every 13 minutes.

Well I know why they are picky but about CERTAIN things like the mirror and seatbelt why can't you put on the seatbelt before adjusting the mirrors?

Mainly it's there to remind you. But in some cars (mine included) the mirrors are not electronically controlled and you have to adjust them by hand by reaching across the passenger seat. You can't do it well if you're buckled up already.

My driving instructor was awful. He would make us drive him somewhere so he could run some errands. Each of us would get an hour long drive but usually only got 15 minutes because he would take SO long in with his friends.

First and foremost, print this and take it to your english teacher and tell him/her to resign.

Next, driving is a skill. like riding a bike or playing tennis. The only way to get good at it is to practice. That is the whole reason for driver's ED--practice. You get to practice for taking the driver's test to get your license.
You need to have the skill to talk on the phone, argue with boyfriend, laugh at the poor slob walking, diddle with the radio, eat fast food and put on makup at the same time.
Honestly, I think that's on the driver's test now....

I am absolutely DREADING Drivers Ed. The written part, I mean. The driving part -- piece of cake. My grandpa has had me behind the wheel since the age of twelve.
I don't retain information very well. At least, not when it comes time to take the test. I blank.

If you can't handle a yelling instructor, how in world do you expect to deal with other drivers, road rage, city driving, unruley friends, cell phones, ect. There are so many driving distractions you need to learn to focus on what you are doing. Remember, a car can be a deadly weapon in the hands of anyone, you need to be prepared.
